Plan for the Day (Itinerary)

Day One

  • 08:00–08:30: Pickup from your hotel in Chiang Mai and begin the scenic drive toward the sanctuary. Pass through rice fields, local farmland, and Karen hill tribe villages. Stop at a local market for refreshments and a comfort break.

  • 10:30–11:00: Arrive at a hill tribe village, transfer to an off-road vehicle for the final 10 km to the sanctuary. Change into traditional Karen-style elephant care uniforms and receive an introductory talk on elephant behavior and habitat.

  • 11:00–13:30: Meet the elephants and enjoy feeding them bananas and sugarcane, play, and take photos. Join the mahouts for a walk with the elephants, observing natural herd behaviors such as foraging, communicating, rubbing on trees, and relaxing in the jungle. The walk covers forests, steep jungle terrain, terraced rice paddies, and stunning hill tribe landscapes.

  • 13:30–14:00: Enjoy a delicious lunch at the camp, freshly prepared for guests.

  • 14:00–16:00: Take a short walk to a private waterfall where you can swim or cool off in the refreshing mountain spring water. Spend additional time with the elephants at the camp, feeding them and capturing memorable photos.

  • Evening: Enjoy a traditional Thai dinner at the camp and settle in for an overnight stay surrounded by the peaceful jungle sounds.

Day Two

  • Morning: Breakfast at the sanctuary followed by farewells to the elephants, including a chance for a final hug and photos.

  • 08:30–11:30: Depart for Doi Inthanon National Park, the “Roof of Thailand.” Visit the highest peak at 2,565 m (8,415 ft). Depending on the season, enjoy a 2.5–3 hour eco-walk along either the Kew Mae Pan (Nov–Apr) or Pha Dok Seaw (May–Oct) trails, taking in panoramic mountain views and the diverse flora and fauna.

  • 11:30–12:30: Lunch at a local restaurant nearby the park.

  • 12:30–14:00: Visit the twin Royal stupas of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, exploring the picturesque gardens and surrounding area.

  • 14:00–16:00: Stop at the impressive Vachiratharn Waterfall, approximately 80 meters high, to admire its natural beauty and take photos. In the wet season, experience the powerful spray from the falls.

  • 17:30–18:00: Return to your hotel in Chiang Mai, completing your two-day ethical elephant and nature adventure.
