Q. Why does it take approximately 2 h to get to the sanctuary?
A. Chiang Mai Elephant land was chosen to provide a large natural habitat for the elephants, away from public roads and other human activities. For this reason, the final (10 km) approach to the remote jungle location it is only accessible by off-road vehicles.
Q. What do I need to bring on the trip?
A. Hat, sunglasses, insect spray, sunscreen, a change of clothes, towel, swimming suit, sport shoes, socks, sandals and personal medication. In the wet season (July – October) we recommend the following: stout walking shoes as the terrain can be muddy/slippery; lightweight raincoat; long socks to cover the lower leg can help prevent the unwanted attention of leaches; although bamboo walking poles are provided, you are welcome to bring your own trekking poles.
Q. Is food provided?
A. A delicious lunch is cooked and provided from our camp kitchen together with coffee, fruit and drinking water. Other refreshments may be available to purchase. If you have any special requirements (vegetarian, gluten free etc.) please tell at pickup (form provided).
Q. Can I bring and use a drone at your sanctuary?
A. We regret that it is not possible to fly drones over our sanctuary as this may distress the elephants.
Q. Do you have washing/changing facilities?
A. We have changing facilities including (cold) showers and western style toilets.
